About Arts Clayton

Arts Clayton

The mission of Arts Clayton is to enrich lives through the arts.

Founded in 1986, Arts Clayton celebrates 25 years of successful community services and programs. Achieving this milestone, we are poised to undertake a series of critical actions that will secure our future and expand our potential far beyond its original vision. An enormous change (and one the forces propelling these new directions and commitments) is the purchase of the beautifully restored historic building where Arts Clayton's Administration and Gallery are located. Purchasing the building created a financial obligation, but also positioned Arts Clayton for state and regional leadership while serving the residents of Clayton County with a comprehensive arts focus.

Arts Clayton has been growing in reputation, art exhibits and programs. We are highly respected in the community not only because of the excellence of our product but also because of the character and status of the area of our Board members and staff.

Arts Clayton's signature education programs include the ArtVan, a mobile learning initiative which provides reading enrichment to children in the schools, and Art Camps which encourage creativity relating to visual and performing arts.

The Arts Clayton Gallery, with its prominent 4-panel street mural, exhibits both professional and emerging artists. The 12 month schedule includes 30 themed and featured exhibits, including two juried competitions and the 13th Congressional District high school student art competition.

Our mission is made possible primarily through the financial support and in-kind investment of our partners, members and patrons. Additional funding in 2010-2011 is provided by the Clayton County Board of Commissioners, Clayton County Tourism Authority, Georgia Council through the Arts and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund.
