ArtVan Pre-K Program

ARTVAN/ARTREACH ~ A Mobile Outreach Project

Art is like a "universal language"
which successfully mixes all levels
of abilities and cultural backgrounds for greater development of individual talents.

Art has a very positive affect on children - helping to develop creativity and skills to become better students and utlimately more productive children.

The ArtVan is a literacy based, community development program benefiting the residents of Clayton, Fayette, and Henry counties. The ArtVan Program began this highly successful curriculum by taking activities into low and moderate income areas, working with children to reinforce reading and language skills through various art-related activities in a number of venues throughout the communities.

As a Partner in Education with the Clayton County Public Schools, the ArtVan currently works with the EIP program ~ serving an average of 950 children per month. Over the past year success in the EIP program has led to a tremendous response from the Pre-K and After School Enrichment Programs requesting ArtVan services be extended, on a regular basis, into those programs as well.

Arts Clayton ArtVanArts Clayton is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to expand services to independent Pre-K schools, providing children with quality preschool experiences necessary for future successes.

  1. Programming will be provided between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm each visit
  2. A maximum of four 30-minute sessions will be provided during each visit
  3. A maximum of 20 students per session (80 students per visit) will receive services
  4. Program activities will utilize Arts, Crafts, Music, Dance and Drama to:

    2. Acquire knowledge about the arts and artists
    3. Expose children to art, music, literature, and drama through storytelling, dance, movement, role playing and creating visual arts
    4. Gain coordination, and develop fine motor skills through participation
    5. Develop social awareness and self-help skills
    6. Encourage reading by working on "reading skills"...sequencing, comprehension, and vocabulary
    7. Encourage all students to participate ( NO language barriers)
    8. Give NEW experiences...playing an instrument, dancing to a new rhythm, singing a song, making an art project
    9. Encourage a wider range of reading by introducing NEW books or subject books that holds student's interest
    10. Review alphabet, colors, numbers, counting, time, shapes
