Art
has a very positive affect on children - helping
to develop creativity and skills to become better
students and utlimately more productive children.
The
ArtVan is a literacy based, community development
program benefiting the residents of Clayton, Fayette,
and Henry counties. The ArtVan Program began this
highly successful curriculum by taking activities
into low and moderate income areas, working with
children to reinforce reading and language skills
through various art-related activities in a number
of venues throughout the communities.
As
a Partner in Education with the Clayton County Public
Schools, the ArtVan currently works with the EIP
program ~ serving an average of 950 children per
month. Over the past year success in the EIP program
has led to a tremendous response from the Pre-K
and After School Enrichment Programs requesting
ArtVan services be extended, on a regular basis,
into those programs as well.
Arts
Clayton is very enthusiastic about the opportunity
to expand services to independent Pre-K schools,
providing children with quality preschool experiences
necessary for future successes.
