To be included in an Arts Clayton exhibit, exhibiting artists are invited to bring work, as it relates to the theme, on the Saturdays mornings listed in the 2007 Call for Artwork schedule. Work is accepted between 9 AM and 1 PM.
Only original work, created in the last 3 years, and suitable for viewing by all audiences will be exhibited. Each piece of work may be exhibited at the Arts Clayton Gallery once per 18 month period. All artwork must be available for sale.
The Curators Committee will determine which works will be included as part of the current exhibit. Decisions on which artwork to include are made based on space limitations, other pieces submitted, relationship to theme, and if work has been displayed here previously. The Arts Clayton Gallery reserves the right to refuse any work deemed unacceptable.
Gallery Staff and Curators Committee will hang the exhibit. Artist assistance is encouraged.
Exhibiting artists must be a Georgia artist, and a current member of Arts Clayton, or other artist organization. Arts Clayton Artist Memberships are $35 annually.
If work is selected to be in that month's exhibit, the artist will have the choice of providing 6-8 hours of volunteer hours within the exhibit's run, or pay a $25 exhibit fee.
With the exception of Mistletoe Market, prints and gyclees will be displayed in the gallery store area. The main gallery is reserved for original work. Artwork must remain on display until the end of the exhibit. Any pieces sold during the exhibit may be replaced with another piece fitting the bi-monthly theme, if available.
All artists must collect their work from the gallery within 14 days of an exhibit's end. All artwork left after 30 days will be considered a donation to Arts Clayton, Inc., and becomes the property of Arts Clayton Gallery.
All pieces must be properly framed with hanging wire (no clips). Frames must be in good condition. Works on canvas must be framed unless "gallery wrapped," with sides finished (no visible staples). Pieces not properly framed, complete with hanging wire, will not be included in the exhibit.
Artwork must be labeled on the back with arist's name, the piece's title, and the correct selling price.
Pieces that are improperly framed, in scratched frames, or unlabeled will not be included in an exhibit.
The artist will provide price lists for all works. The artist determines the price(s) of his/her piece(s). The artist agrees to a 25% commission for Arts Clayton - please include the commission in the price. The Arts Clayton Gallery pays the artist's commission(s) on the 15th of the month following the month the artwork was sold, and Arts Clayton will collect applicable sales tax.
Artist accepts all risk and is responsible for obtaining necessary insurance. Arts Clayton, Inc. accepts no liability expressed or implied for artwork exhibited at the gallery or other sanctioned locations.
Arts Clayton reserves the right to photograph work for Arts Clayton publicity and for its web site. Artwork shown at Arts Clayton will be available on the website for six months following the exhibit. A link to the artist's website will be provided if desired.
Artists are encouraged to assist in the marketing of their work by informing collectors and others where their work is available for viewing.
The Arts Clayton Gallery receives numerous requests for work or artists contacts from a variety of sources. It may be from patrons looking for a particular medium and subject matter. Or, it could be from a community organization looking to commission work for a specific project or location. Or, it's a corporation looking for large number of pieces for corporate gifts. Sometimes, patrons contact artists directly based seeing their work in the gallery.
We are happy to make these referrals and connections. We will even facilitate and manage the commission process, if necessary, to be sure the artist is protected in the deal. As all of this requires effort on our part, therefore, what we ask of the artist is the following in these circumstances: The artist agrees to pay the gallery the 25% commission on any work or request which is generated from a lead provided by or facilitated by the Arts Clayton Gallery.
As a non-profit community gallery, we are here and able to do what we do through the gracious support of our artists, our patrons, and our members. We thank you for your support!
In the gallery store, Arts Clayton offers smaller items such as jewelry, stained glass, pottery, prints, gyclees books, music, and cards.
Whereas part of the mission of the Gallery is to increase arts awareness, and promote the arts, the primary mission of the gallery store is to sell work to benefit Arts Clayton. Therefore, decisions to be included are based on the whether or not the artwork will sell.
All potential gallery store artists are seen by appointment only. If you are interested in having your work included in the gallery store, please contact us for details and requirements by calling (770) 473-5457 or by e-mailing gallery@artsclayton.org.
