Juried Show Winner Michael Sawecki served as judge for this month's show: Congratulations to all of the ribbon award winners:
Arts Clayton Gallery is excited to feature 2009 Juried Show Winner Michaell Sawecki in a solo exhibition. "My work tends to be a representative of some emotional or psychological event. The even may be inspired by my own experiences, a piece of music, current events, a book, or the critical on going search for Nessie. Really, artists are inspired in some uncanny ways so the symbols used might be obvious, ambiguous, or down right contradictory - when I'm lucky it's a little of all these."
Michael Sawecki attended school in Detroit at the College For Creative Studies. He worked for a while as a freelance illustrator before heading south. Mr. Sawecki is an art teacher at Langston Hughes High School, and lives in Hampton with a respectable collection of carnivorous plants.

There is structure in a building, but there is also structure in the line of a horizon, the shape of a tree, or the angle of a hummingbird's wings. These structures define the spaces in which we live, and into which we look. When we fully see these structures and the spaces they create, then the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Large things become intimate, and small things become infinite. When we are seeing well, we can see beyond surfaces, and our seeing transforms the world. - Daniel Piar
Daniel F. Piar has been photographing in a variety of formats, both film and digital, for over a decade. His work emphasizes the built environment, the natural environment, and the interaction of humans with the landscape. Georgia Quilt Council's traveling show in its first stop in the metro Atlanta area. "Crazy Quilting" first became a fad among the Victorians in the 1880's after an introduction in the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. Crazy Quilts break all the "rules" of quilting - non repeating "patterns," asymmetrical fabric pieces, heavy embellishments, and exotic, non traditional fabrics. Quilters from across the state met this crazy, free flowing fiber challenge to produce 29 amazing works of unique art. The Georgia Quilt Council, Inc. is a nonprofit organization which brings quilters from all parts of Georgia and neighboring states together to promote and encourage the art of quilting.
Start the new year with new Art! Gyclee (pronounced "zhee-clay") is an invented name for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. There will be framed, unframed or canvas Gyclees and prints of all sizes, depicting all mediums.
