Artist Information

Arts Clayton Gallery is dedicated to promoting the work of local Georgia Artists. Our artists range from professional, established artists to emerging artists. We are always looking for, and meeting with, artists interested in exhibiting their work at the Arts Clayton Gallery.

Arts Clayton Gallery is a retail art gallery. All the work offered for exhibition in exhibiting artist shows is original works of art, and for sale. Gylcees and reproductions may be offered in the gallery store.

Our curators need to meet directly with the artists themselves and see their portfolio of work. We do not meet with artist agents or other interested parties.

Be An Exhibiting Artist

To be an exhibiting artist, one needs to satisfy one of the following criteria:

• Meet with our Curators Committee OR Be accepted into either juried show (February or October)
• Be a Georgia Resident
• Have artwork completed within the last 3 years
• Be willing to offer your original for sale
• Be a member of Arts Clayton ($35 annually) or another local Art Organization

The curators approve artists based on the artistic standards established for the gallery. These artistic standards include demonstrated competency in the following:

• Composition
• Center of interest
• Use of color
• Impact
• Use of light and shadow
• Details
• Creativity and originality
• Values
• Technical Mastery of the equipment and techniques/processes appropriate to the medium

Once an artist is approved by our curators, or jury panels, they are invited to participate in any call for artwork. At a curator's appointment, please bring examples of your current work, portfolio and bio/artist statement.

As a retail Gallery, all work exhibited in our exhibiting artist shows must be for sale. If your work is not for sale, we suggest entering our Juried Shows where this is not a requirement.

Beyond the curator meeting, exhibiting artists must be a Georgia artist, and a current member of Arts Clayton, or other artist organization. Arts Clayton Artist Memberships are $35 annually.

When participating in an open call for artwork show, Exhibiting Artists agree:

• If work is selected to be in that month's exhibit, the artist will have the choice of providing 6-8 hours of volunteer hours within the exhibit's run, or pay a $25 exhibit fee. This exhibit fee is waived for all of the ribbon award and honorable mention winners in each open call show.
• All work exhibited at the Arts Clayton Gallery in a non-juried show, must be for sale, or available in gyclee/fine art print and created within the last 3 years, With the exception of Mistletoe Market, prints and gyclees will be displayed in the gallery store area. The main gallery is reserved for original work. Artwork must remain on display until the end of the exhibit. Any pieces sold during the exhibit may be replaced with another piece fitting the bi-monthly theme, if available.
• To collect their work from the gallery within 14 days of an exhibit's end. All artwork left after 30 days will be considered a donation to Arts Clayton, Inc., and becomes the property of Arts Clayton Gallery.
